Lafayette Square

Located at Abercorn and Charlton streets

This square is right next to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. It also is home to the birthplace of Flannery O'Conner and the Andrew Low house (home of Juliette Low — founder of the girl scouts and her husband). Needless to say this square can be busy, but is usually fine later in the day (when the light is best!). In late 2024, the city painted the fountain black, so in older photos you may see, it is green. This square is one of our favorites!

It is still gorgeous though.
